description[0] = "<b>Swing</b> - The history of swing dates back to the 1920's where it was first discovered as the Charleston " +
                 "and the Lindy Hop. In the mid 1930's it was transformed into a bouncy six beat variant that was " +
                 "named the Jitterbug/Jive. In the early 1940's Arthur Murray studios around the globe began teaching " +
                 "the now known swing dance to their students. In the 2000's, dancers over 60 years of age are still " +
                 "moving their Lindy Hoppin', Jitterbuggin', Swingin', and Shaggin feet.";
description[1] = "<b>Cha cha</b> - Originally known as the Cha-Cha-Cha, it became popular about 1954. Cha Cha is an offshoot of the " +
                 "Mambo. In the slow Mambo tempo, there was a distinct sound in the music that people began dancing " +
                 "to, calling the step the 'Triple' Mambo. Eventually it evolved into a separate dance, known today " +
                 "as the Cha Cha.<br><br>The dance consists of three quick steps (triple step or cha cha cha) and two " +
                 "slower steps on the one beat and two beat.";
description[2] = "<b>Rumba</b> - The 'rumba influence' came from Africa in the 16th century. The native Rumba dance is essentially " +
                 "a sexual dance danced extremely fast with exaggerated hip movements and with a sensually " +
                 "aggressive attitude on the part of the man and a defensive attitude on the part of the woman. " +
                 "Now the Rumba is a modified slower and more refined version of the native style. The Rumba is " +
                 "usually danced with small steps in a 4/4 time, with the women producing a subtle tilting of the " +
                 "hips by alternately bending and straightening the knees.<br /><br />Rumba is the spirit and soul " +
                 "of Latin American music and dance. The fascinating rhythms and bodily expressions make the " +
                 "Rumba one of the most popular ballroom dances.";
description[3] = "<b>Mambo</b> - The fusion of Swing and Cuban music produced a fascinating rhythm and in turn created a new " +
                 "sensational dance called the Mambo. The mambo is usually danced in 4/4 time with a break on the " +
                 "first beat, therefore your first step is on the second of the 4/4 beat. The Mambo dance is " +
                 "considered one of the hardest dances to learn.";
description[4] = "<b>Samba</b> - The Samba originated in Brazil. It was and is danced as a festival dance during the street " +
                 "festivals and celebrations. First introduced in the U.S. in a Broadway play called 'Street " +
                 "Carnival' in the late twenties. The festive style and mood of the dance has kept it alive and " +
                 "popular to this day. Samba is a fun dance that fits most of today's popular music.";
description[5] = "<b>Salsa</b> - Salsa is similar to Mambo in that both have a pattern of six steps danced over eight counts of " +
                 "music. The dances share many of the same moves. In Salsa, turns have become an important feature, " +
                 "so the overall look and feel are quite different from those of Mambo. Mambo moves generally " +
                 "forward and backward, whereas, Salsa has more of a side to side feel.";
description[6] = "<b>Bolero</b> - This is a left turning dance based on a 'slip pivot' (a slip pivot is a rotation of the body on " +
                 "the ball of the supporting foot creating a pivot either forward or backward). Bolero has body " +
                 "rise only (no foot rise). This coupled with the slip pivot and slow dreamy music gives Bolero a " +
                 "very slow, smooth, powerful, romantic look and feeling. The foot patterns are similar to Rumba " +
                 "but have a very different feeling.<br /><br />The Bolero is often called the Cuban 'Dance of Love', " +
                 "because of its slow and dreamy tempo, and it's beautiful melodies.";
description[7] = "<b>Foxtrot</b> - The Foxtrot originated in the summer of 1914 by Vaudeville actor Harry Fox. It is danced in a 4/4 " +
                 "time and was the most significant development in all of ballroom dancing. The combination of " +
                 "quick and slow steps permits more flexibility and gives much greater dancing pleasure than the " +
                 "one-step and two-step which it has replaced. A variation of the Foxtrot is the Quickstep.";
description[8] = "<b>Waltz</b> - Colorful flowing ballgowns! Tails! Weddings! Beautiful music! Strong melodies! Waltz is a smooth " +
                 "dance, traveling around the line of dance in 3/4 time with strong accent on the first beat and a " +
                 "basic pattern of step-step-close. It is characterized primarily by its rise &amp; fall action. " +
                 "Today the Waltz emerges in two accepted forms, both reflecting the main characteristics of the " +
                 "dance. They are known as the Modern Waltz and the Viennese (Quick) Waltz.";
description[9] = "<b>Tango</b> - The Tango was thought to have been demonstrated in Paris in 1906, but it didnt really catch " +
                 "popular imagination until 1911. It was so different from the other dances of the time and " +
                 "considered somewhat obscene that it challenged the conventions of acceptable public behaviour. " +
                 "The Tango is a very emotional dance with lots of clipped movements, it's not flowing like a waltz. " +
                 "The Tango is a very flat dance with legs always slightly flexed (i.e. the knees should be slightly " +
                 "bent at all times).";
description[10] = "<b>Viennese Waltz</b> - Thought to have emerged from Germany in the second half of the 18th century, the Viennese Waltz " +
                  "is regarded as the oldest of ballroom dances. It is danced in a fast tripple 3/4 time in a closed " +
                  "dance position, moving in the direction of dance around the floor.";
description[11] = "<b>Quickstep</b> - During the 1920s many bands played the Quickstep too fast and some couples couldn't keep up. " +
                  "Over time, a faster version was born, absorbing extra elements of ragtime such as the " +
                  "Charleston. This led to the creation of what we today call the Quickstep. Its is a bright dance " +
                  "with tricky footwork making the dancer look like they are dancing on hot coals.";
